Endmilling
Endmilling with the Bluebe MQL system is practical application with die
cutting a leading market. A high speed, shallow, high feed process by a
small end mill or a ball end mill is very compatible with MQL: we have
many examples. It improves productivity, preventing scuffing, prolonging
tool life, especially in the realm of high hardened steel cutting. With
a desire to prevent inaccuracy resulting from heat displacement, the process
itself aims to make a tool and a work piece touch each other as little
as possible thus diminishes heat generation. This is a reasonable solution
for MQL deprived of forced cooling. You can see production data of die
cutting with an end mill at a factory of our client. Two trials that follow
were carried out at another client, not aware of die cutting. |
Tapping
Up to 2D tapping is possible with a wide gamut of material selection.
Existence of at least oil-hole on the tap is obligatory. |

In addition to drilling, MQL knows fewer problems with lathes than machining
centers. Deprived of forced cooling, it tends to accumulate thermal energy
on the work piece. Trials verified that directly after an outside rough
turning operation on a steel work piece (50mm, 40mm), the surface temperature
was 40 C after a sequence - drilling, outside cross-cut, threading, end
slotting, cutting-off, rough turning -temperature climbed to 60C. Numerical
values are much lower and insignificant with an aluminum work piece, which
shows as adequate material for MQL. Internal slotting and boring both have
chip removal issues presenting another deficiency of MQL compared with
traditional coolant. Please contact us, if you would like to have real data
example for cutting condition, machine, tools. |
